A Different Kind of Worship Experience

I did not go to church Sunday . . . but I did church.

We observed Serving Sunday at The Bridge Church in Reno. There were no formal worship services. Worship was expressed through hundreds of acts of kindness and service throughout the greater Reno/Sparks area to nearly 20 nonprofit organizations or schools.

Some delivered cookies and candy to children at the Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission. One man spent the whole prior day making bundles of cookies to hand out.

Some took worship music to a convalescent hospital.

Many served at public schools–at least two elementary schools and a high school–by doing physical improvement projects. One man created a large exterior mural of a dragon for an elementary school just down the street from our church.

Some folks created baby blankets.

A bunch of folks helped out at two clothes closets–one of which uses the church’s former parsonage behind our church.

Some folks served Awaken, a nonprofit that helps women get out of the trafficking industry in northern Nevada.

Hands and feet were all over the place loving the Lord their God with all their heart and with all their soul and with all their strength and with all their mind . . . and their neighbors as themselves.

Worship happened. It just looked a little different.

Janet would love to serve your group by speaking at your next event. More info about her writing and speaking are here:
