How Jesus Might Pray for You

How might Jesus advocate for you with his Heavenly Father? Here is an idea, inspired by Revelation 1-3, taken from my book, The Complete Guide to the Prayers of Jesus (Bethany House, 2018):

“Father, as the Alpha and Omega, I appeal to you on behalf of our servants. Consider their hard work and perseverance in the faith. They have endured hardships and yet keep pressing on. However, they have lost some of the passion for the faith and the desire to make you their first priority. They also have fears about what others will think if they fully live out their lives for you. Be merciful and gentle, Father. While you are completely faithful, a heavenly perspective is not always apparent to your creation on the earth. They are often tempted by the various lures of the world. We are not of the world, but they are surrounded by immorality. Daily they must make choices to serve you, and it is not easy–I know this because I, too, was tempted. Give them the strength to make the right decisions that will keep them on your sovereign and straight path. Turn them from wrong teachings and instead toward your Word, which is good and true. Be generous, Lord, with the fruits of your Spirit and with ministry giftings, that they will serve you with their whole hearts–not to please men but to honor you. Plant love within them with such deep roots that it bears fruit that is so appealing and delicious to those who do not yet believe that they taste and see it is good indeed and put their faith and trust in you. Cancel any attempt by the enemy to discourage or discredit your servants. Build them up in the faith, Father, so that in their strength they bring you honor and glory and praise. Thank you, holy Father. And so be it.”
